Home Mining Power Cost Calculator

Work out the daily, monthly, and yearly electricity cost of running your CPU or GPU mining rig at home.

Daily

$1.01

8.40 kWh

Monthly

$30.24

252.0 kWh

Yearly

$367.92

3,066 kWh

At the US-EPA grid average of 0.39 kg CO2 per kWh, this rig emits roughly 1,196 kg CO2 per year. Your local grid mix may be cleaner or dirtier.

Estimates only. PSU label wattage is the maximum, not the actual draw - use a plug-in meter for the real figure.

Methodology

How this calculator works

Straight arithmetic on measured draw. The figure that matters is what the rig pulls at the wall, not the sum of component TDPs, because power supply losses are real and appear on your bill.

The arithmetic

  • daily kWh = (watts / 1,000) * hours per day, with hours clamped to 0-24
  • daily cost = daily kWh * your price per kWh
  • monthly cost = daily cost * 30
  • yearly cost = daily cost * 365
  • annual CO2 in kg = annual kWh * 0.39

What it assumes

  • Watts is sustained draw measured at the wall, ideally with a plug-in meter rather than taken from a spec sheet.
  • Your electricity price is flat. Time-of-use and tiered tariffs are not modelled.
  • The CO2 factor of 0.39 kg per kWh is a US grid average used as an order-of-magnitude reference.

Where it breaks down

  • A month is treated as 30 days, so the monthly figure times twelve does not equal the yearly figure. The yearly figure uses 365 days and is the more accurate of the two.
  • The CO2 estimate is wrong for any grid that differs materially from the US average, and badly wrong if you run on your own renewables.
  • Cooling overhead, standby draw, and losses upstream of the meter are not included.
